Data Formats for
Files are compressed and stored as .zip files. These files can be "unzipped" with compression packages such as WinZip (click here to obtain WinZip).
Files in .csv format are flat text files with variables separated by commas. These files easily can be read into Excel, SAS, Stata, and other spreadsheet and statistical packages.
NOTE: Some files may contain more observations (rows) than will fit in a standard Excel 95 or Excel 97 worksheet. Therefore, software other than Excel may be required to fully read these files.
At last resort, one could read the file into Word and cut/paste into multiple Excel worksheets.
STATA Data
Files in .dta format are STATA data sets that can be read directly into STATA 6.0.
