University of California Energy Institute
Information Program
The Energy Institute carries on several information activities:
Catalog of Energy Research In Progress
The catalog is a database containing information about University of California
energy researchers and their research. for U.C. and other energy researchers,
energy practitioners, sponsors, and the general public. The current catalog
has information on 2,262 U.C. faculty and staff (including 224 staff at
the U.C.-operated national laboratories) and 2,810 energy researchers in
other universities, government, and industry. The database also contains
descriptions of 1,346 energy research projects. The database provides information
for U.C. faculty and staff to help them plan research and establish collaborations,
for students to identify research opportunities, for potential sponsors,
and for colleagues in other institutions to exchange ideas and establish
collaborations. The database is also used by the Energy Institutes to administer
its research.
Information about research managed or funded by the Energy Institute
is available here in several forms:
Information about all energy research on the U.C. campuses was published
in 1985 in a printed catalog. We plan to make an udated version of the
catalog available through this Web site. Recently, as part of a joint effort
with U.C.'s Office of University/Industry Research and Technology, we provided
data to their UC ACCESS database on research in the nine-campus system.
UC ACCESS will soon be available as a Web site.
Energy Institute Publications
Results of Energy Institute research and proceedings of conferences are
distributed through books and monographs, POWER
working papers (the PWP- series), and Energy
Institute Reports (the UER- report series). Energy Institute
investigators also publish much of their research through scholarly journals.
A list of recent journal articles can be seen here.
The Program on Workable Energy Regulation publishes an occasional newsletter.
Conferences and Workshops
The Energy Institute sponsors and produces conferences, workshops, and
informal meetings, including technical meetings, public conferences, seminars,
workshops to share results and research-in-progress among institute investigators,
and visits by representatives of research sponsors to campuses. Since
1996, POWER has hosted a one day conference on
electricity industry restructuring in Berkeley every March. A
complete list of Institute sponsored meetings can be found here.
